Robert J. Pommer Jr. CEO and Founder Mr. Pommer founded Optelcon, LLC in 2003 and brings over 24 years of entrepreneurial, telecommunications, technology, negotiations and business experience. Prior to founding Optelcon, LLC, Bob was the co-founder and Vice Chairman of Universal Access, Inc. Although recently purchased, Universal Access, Inc. was a publicly traded, telecommunications technology, logistics and integration firm. During his tenure, Universal Access, Inc. grew from a 5-person company to a publicly traded, $250 Million in revenue, 400-person firm, with a tech boom market cap of over $5 Billion Dollars. Mr. Pommer co-developed several patents for multi-vendor quoting and provisioning tools, which are used today by most major telecom companies. Mr. Pommer also developed tools and systems, which identifies and optimizes inefficient network elements. These systems are also used today by many major telecom companies. Bob also designed and oversaw the construction and management of over 15 award winning, telecom collocation and hosting facilities nationwide. In March of 2000, Bob was half of the two-man team, which raised over $150 Million in capital, with Goldman Sachs, and took Universal Access, Inc. public. Prior to Universal Access, Bob was a top grossing National Account Executive for Teleport Communications Group, (a metropolitan fiber ring company), Arista Communications, (a telecom master agency), Cable and Wireless, (a large international telecom voice and data carrier), and Apple Computer earlier in his career. Mr. Pommer graduated from Drake University in 1989 with bachelor’s degrees in Marketing and Management.
Elizabeth Michael Pommer – CFO and Vice President of Risk Management Beth brings over 11 years of large organization risk management and insurance experience to the Optelcon team. Beth heads up our risk management practice and is an integral part of the team. In all of Optelcon’s expense practices; telecom, shipping printing etc…, risk avoidance and risk mitigation are critical. When re-negotiating a contract with a vendor, there may be hidden business risks and requirements that may not be readily apparent. Having a seasoned risk manager who has worked on both sides of the table is an invaluable asset to Optelcon’s clients. Prior to joining Optelcon, Beth spent 11 years in the insurance industry as both a risk management consultant and corporate insurance agent. While working in the insurance industry, Beth handled over $22 million dollars in annually premiums. In addition to her work in the insurance industry directly, Beth was involved in high level, large corporate risk management consulting. Some of Beth’s clients included major casinos, professional sports teams, manufacturing companies, food services companies, major banks as well as one of the largest national talk shows. Beth joined Optelcon as the CFO in 2006. Beth has been an integral part in managing Optelcon’s own risks as well driving Optelcon’s operating expenses down by over 30% Beth has a B.S. degree in Business Administration.
Heather Morgan – Director Of Client Services Heather is an exceptionally talented financial, telecom and client services veteran. Heather’s primary responsibilities include, project management, client implementations, training, customer support and cost management consulting. Her combination of client dedication, industry experience and amazing personality, make Heather an invaluable asset to our clients as well as the Optelcon team. One of Optelcon’s key value adds is our ability to organize and pull together information from a variety of different departments and systems and connect all the dots. Working with very large, complex and challenging implementations requires the ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organizations involved. Whether speaking to a CEO, CFO, Operations team member, consultant or analyst, Heather is very adept at making sure the right people have the right information. Her tremendous dedication is truly critical in success of satisfying our clients. Prior to joining Optelcon, Heather was instrumental in the success and growth of several expense management/invoice processing firms, including the largest expense management company in the U.S. with over 370 employees and over 6 billion Dollars of expense under management. Prior to entering the world of expense management, Ms. Morgan spent several years at MCI performing various billing, operations and client support roles. Prior to working with MCI, Ms. Morgan was an accounting technician for the U.S. Government and is a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Diane Helfer- Director of Data Integration and Analysis Diane is an extremely knowledgeable 20 year telecommunications and financial systems veteran. Ms. Helfer’s primary responsibilities include, database; analysis, design, testing, data migration and customer data cleansing and integration. Her combination of extensive telecommunications, financial and database experience make her an invaluable asset to any client. One of the most fundamental challenges and keys to success is having data, which is “cleaned” and “normalized”. We regularly deal with companies, which have multiple systems, spreadsheets, access databases, SAP, PeopleSoft systems throughout the company. One of the key value propositions we bring to our clients is the uncanny ability to integrate all of this data into one single database to enable better visibility and management. Prior to joining Optelcon, Ms. Helfer was instrumental in the design, development and implementation of various expense management applications for a the largest expense management company in the U.S. with over 370 employees and over 6 billion Dollars of expenses under management. As an experienced and extremely talented business analyst, Ms. Helfer played a key role in the success of critical business applications through the continuing analysis of business requirements, identifying new development needs through collaboration with technology, marketing and product development groups. She also brings a background in product and technical support, problem resolution and quality assurance testing to the team.
Ariel Weissberg - General Counsel Mr. Weissberg brings over 20 years of legal experience to the Optelcon Team. Unlike many lawyers who take a narrow -- "legalistic" -- view of business matters, Ariel is widely known and respected for his grasp of the complex interplay between legal issues and broader business concerns and challenges. Beyond problem solving, Ariel proactively practices "problem-avoidance", and enables both our partners and clients to advance more efficiently and with greater vision. As a ruthless negotiator, Ariel's significant contract negotiating experience enables our clients to secure the best terms, conditions and pricing. Ariel has deep roots in the Chicago community. The son of Rabbi Victor H. Weissberg, Ariel graduated from Washington University (B.A. 1976) and received his J.D. from St. Louis University Law School (1979). He returned to Chicago, where, besides practicing law, he involved himself in charitable and community-based activities.
